For the cold Yuletide, when the nights are long and candles burn in the darkness to ward away hungry ghosts, I adorned my altar with traditional greenery: Holly, Yew, and Ivy gathered from my back yard. The Mask of Herne sits upon the altar as well, as it will until the door into the Light Half of the Year begins to open.
Soon the lights will be dimmed, and my own candles lit. Offerings for gods, spirits and ancestors will be laid upon the altar, and sweet Frankincense burned.
May your household be warm and well warded, may none lack for sustenance, may the light of returning sun be a blessing upon you.
